The members of the Rye City Democratic Committee wholeheartedly endorsed Catherine in her race for the County Legislator.

                     Rye’s Catherine Parker, who was twice elected on the Democratic line for Rye City Council, will be an excellent
                     candidate. As members of the City of Rye Democratic Committee with many years of experience working on local 
                     campaigns, we wholeheartedly support Catherine. She is a well-respected public official, an independent thinker, a 
                     loyal friend and a caring neighbor.

Reporter Chris Gramuglia of The Rye Sound Shore Review thoroughly examines Murphy's false claims.

                    While county legislator candidate Catherine Parker continues to financially outpace her primary opponent, Tom                                     Murphy, Murphy has alleged that some of Parker’s campaign contributions exceeded the legal limit, and has since                                 filed a formal complaint with the state. Those claims, however, have proven unsubstantiated, according to                                                 representatives from both the state and county board of elections.

In typical campaign fashion, Tom Murphy is resorting to political games rather than focusing on the issues that matter to Westchester residents. Elizabeth Ganga covers the story:

                    He [Murphy] is asking the board to investigate contributions he says exceed the filing limits for the primary.                                              The problem is candidates in a primary can accept contributions up to the sum of the primary limit and the 
                    general election limit, which in District 7 is $2,833, according to Thomas Connolly, a spokesman for the 
                    state Board of Elections. All the contributions to Parker's campaign on her July finance filing fall under that                                               level except a $5,000 contribution from her mother, Barbara Dannenberg. Family members can contribute up                                           to  $13,004.

                    Parker is an intriguing candidate for several reasons. First, she was independent of a party before changing her 
                    enrollment to Democrat last year. While her prior registration has become a campaign issue for some Democrats, we

                    county government.

                    County Legislator Judy Myers, a Democrat representing the 7th legislative district, also attended the Harrison caucus to
                    give her endorsement for Rye City Councilwoman Catherine Parker, who will seek to replace Myers’ on the board in  
                    November. Myers, who will step down at the end of the year, also endorsed Jaffe on his race for district 6.

                   At the caucus, Harrison Democrats also endorsed  Councilwoman Parker based on her experience and strength as a  
                   candidate.

                   “I think she is dynamite,” Democratic Chairwoman Pritchard said. “[Parker] has such a good head on her shoulders.”

Editor Liz Giegerich added to the press surrounding the retirement of incumbent Board of Legislators Member Judy Meyers and Catherine's announcement of candidacy.

                     Myers told Parker she wanted the her take the BOL seat and Parker considered it carefully, knowing that local Rye
                     Democrats would want her to run for mayor this year, she said.

                      “I believe I learned a lot serving in Rye and I’ve cut my teeth on Rye politics. I am ready to go to the next level,” 
                      she said.

                    Parker had been considering running for Mayor this fall, but she told the paper that she decided she could best 
                    serve Rye as a County Legislator

                    "I appreciate the fact that Judy had faith in me and asked me to run for her seat, and I will work really hard to keep  
                    that faith, and the faith of my Rye constituents," said Parker.

                    Westchester County Legis. Judith Myers (D-Mamaroneck) will not run for a fifth term, she said at a Thursday news 
                    conference.

                    Speaking at Mamaroneck Town Center, Myers, 60, said eight years on the Board of Legislators was enough.
